The healing power of mercy
As we prepare to close out April and step into a new month, it's a good time to pause — to reflect on where we are, and where we are being invited to go.
Today, we honor a truth that heals at the deepest levels of our hearts and lives: the power of mercy.
Mercy — when we receive it, when we extend it, and when we live it — transforms us. It softens hardened places, lifts heavy burdens, and renews our hope for tomorrow.
What is Mercy?
Mercy isn’t weakness.
Mercy is strength.
It’s the powerful choice to offer forgiveness, trust, and compassion — even when it's hard.
Mercy says: "You are loved beyond your mistakes." Mercy says: "You are not defined by your worst moments."
And most importantly, Divine Mercy says: "You are invited to begin again."
How Trust and Mercy Heal Us
When we choose to trust in God's mercy — and to extend mercy to ourselves and others — we free our hearts from carrying burdens we were never meant to bear alone.
Research even shows that forgiveness and compassion-based practices can lower stress, improve heart health, and build emotional resilience. Mercy isn’t just a spiritual practice — it's a wellness practice, too.
A Gentle Invitation for Today
Today, take a few minutes to pause and ask yourself:
Where am I being called to trust more deeply?
What weight could I lay down if I embraced mercy more fully?
Who (including myself) do I need to forgive?
Even one small step toward mercy can open the door to incredible healing.
As we move from April into May, lets choose to walk in a spirit of reflection and renewal. Mercy is the first step. Trust is the path forward. And healing is always possible.
"Jesus, I trust in You."
