Mother’s Day brings up so much. For some, it’s a joyful celebration. For others, it’s a tender or complicated day. Whether you are a mother, miss your mother, hoped to be one, or simply love and care with a mother’s heart—this post is for you.

If you’ve followed my journey over the years—on air or through Take Care Tips—you’ve likely watched my five kids grow up right alongside me. From my earliest days as a young mom, to now parenting five young adults, I’ve experienced so many of the milestones that come with motherhood: joy, exhaustion, worry, celebration, letting go, and holding on.

Whether you’re raising little ones, navigating teenage years, walking with adult children, grieving, or nurturing others through your love, these gentle list of 10 Take Care Tips for Moms is designed to refill your spirit, one quiet moment at a time.

10 Take Care Tips for Moms

  1. Take One Minute to Breathe Deeply.
Inhale for 4, hold for 2, exhale for 6. Let your shoulders soften and your mind reset.

  2. Drink Water Before Coffee.
Start your day with hydration as a simple way to honor your body and your health.

  3. Say “Yes” to Help—Even If It’s Not Your Way.
You don’t have to carry it all. Let others support you.

  4. Give Yourself Permission to Rest.
Rest isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Even 10 minutes can renew your energy.

  5. Get Outside (Even Briefly).
Fresh air and sunlight are powerful mood boosters.

  6. Keep a Kindness List.
Write one kind thing you did each day. Your love is showing up.

  7. Speak to Yourself Like You Would to Your Child.
Offer yourself the same grace and tenderness you give to others.

  8. Create a “Reset Ritual.”
A cup of tea, a candle, a prayer—all small cues to return to calm.

  9. Stay Connected.
Text a friend. Talk to someone. You’re not alone.

  10. Anchor Yourself in a Scripture or Quote.
Let one truth steady you today:
“As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you.” – Isaiah 66:13

A Prayer for Moms on Mother’s Day

Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of mothers—those who gave us life, those who raised us, and those who love with a mother’s heart.

Bless every mother today: those in the thick of raising children, those navigating adulthood with their kids, those who are grieving, hoping, or healing.

Fill their spirits with peace.
Renew their strength.
Remind them that their love matters more than they’ll ever know.
Wrap them in Your comfort.
And let them feel just how deeply loved they are—by You, and by those they pour into every day.

Amen.

This Mother’s Day, wherever you find yourself—celebrating, reflecting, or somewhere in between, I hope you’ll give yourself permission to receive a little care, too.

From my heart to yours—
Happy Mother’s Day. You are strong, you are seen, and you are so very loved.

With love,
Jen
